What are some challenges of rural education that you all encounter.

For example: missing a significant amount of school for snow. This can decrease student achievement.

When I taught Kindergarten, I always took my students to Lexington to a pumpkin patch. This was always a challenge because we had to fundraise the monies needed for bus travel, food for the students, admission to the event, etc. After traveling 3 hours to get to Lexington, the kiddos couldn’t spend much time at all enjoying the pumpkin patch because we had such a long way to travel back home…Needless to say, by the end of the day we were all exhausted…but we all had pumpkins, apple cider, and doughnuts!
