Our district is looking at other options for Assessment. We currently use Work Sampling for Progress Reporting. Can anyone tell me about Read/Write Gold, Core or Carolina Online? I have heard of some of these.

We have received our ARI Grant materials! My students were so excited when they saw the Light Changing table and all of the manipulatives that came with it. I can’t wait to get started and watch them having fun playing while building those fine motor muscles at the same time!

The Paintsville Middle School Entrepreneur project was a great success. Four of our entrepreneurs/teams won at regionals. Several businesses are still taking orders and producing goods to sell. The ARI Fire Summit was a great way for these students to showcase their hard-work and talent. The students are already brainstorming ideas for next year!

We have been slow to start with all the school closings for weather and sickness. We have started on our projects though. Miss Janice Mitchell a quilting lady from our community has came in and helped the children do a nine patch block for a paper quilt the children are doing. Children have been using their new tablets to code and make stories on PBS scratch Jr. They have learned about plot,setting and characters. We are still looking for an awesome coding app that is age appropriate that focuses on letter identification and phonics.
