My grant was the to serve as the beginning of a library Makerspace and has certainly served its purpose. Along with several other grants, we are slowly equipping our school with plenty of STEAM materials. Our new challenge is storing the items in an organized and protected way. When building a Makerspace, the physical features of the space are not the only matters at hand. We must “build” the “maker” as well. We must instill a growth mindset, teach accountable talk, motivate selfless leadership, and provide a purpose for creating! In essence, we must make the maker AND the space!!

Hello! Our library makerspace is part of a larger initiative including a total of 4 ARI grants in our school. We are making progress toward building, storing and utilizing our space. There are many questions we still have, but are definitely making progress toward the greater goal. We are meeting once a week after school with our Junior Engineers…Read More
