The Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative would like to offer two new videos in our series focused on science through course task implementation. We offer this next segment from Central Elementary in Johnson County. In partnership with the Kentucky Department of Education and its Next Generation Leadership Network, Central Elementary worked quickly to provide us with a look at TCTs in action. In this video you will see a glimpse of what planning, facilitating and the post-task analysis looks like for the 2nd grade task called Germinating Seeds. If you are looking for a resource to share that combines the whole process in an authentic setting with teachers and students, this is it.
In the second video titled Science TCTs: Pre-planning, Charlene Owens and the Johnson County team lead an example of the pre-planning phase leading up to Science TCTs: In Action. The example you will see highlights the team’s thoughts and ideas in preparing to facilitate the task. You will find detail to spur conversations and an opportunity to pause and reflect throughout that is well suited for shared viewing. A special thanks to Thom Cochran, Angela Hall, Robin Hyden, Charlene Owens, Shauna Patton, Lisa Salyer and Andrea Salyers for their efforts to share an example of implementation that we can all use to learn.
To access these videos and the rest of the series, follow the link below to The Holler. The link will take you directly to the video series, but if you are familiar with The Holler site, you will find a new link for Science TCTs when hovering over Resources in the top menu ribbon. We offer these resources freely and invite you to submit your own footage for this growing series.
