We finally have the safe place set up, with all materials implemented. It took a while to introduce each material and the purpose so children would be able to benefit from the material by using it effectively. Pictured is the safe place. The safe place is a space that children can go to to be alone and figure out those strong feelings they have before reacting in a negative way. In this space children can use breathing techniques, read books about feelings, name their feelings and find the feeling buddy. Children also have the option of having teacher support once they enter this space or choose to be totally alone. The safe place teaches children about feelings and gives them choices on how to act appropriate to those feelings.
