This year has definitly been a different ending than what we thought would happen. Being virtual has been a learning curve and such a great experience. I am so happy with what our students took from our recycling project and how it continued with doing school at home. Now I’m excited to watch the presentations virtually.

We have been using our robots and technology to work on coding skills, as well as having a lot of fun learning these skills! We were planning to integrate our robots into our Special Olympics preparation, as well as have an event to share our resources with some friends from other classes, but those are on hold for now.

The “Green Thumb Initiative” year around garden was off to a great start! We ordered a greenhouse and with some help from the staff, students and community members we leveled the land and got our beautiful green built. We can’t wait to see all the things we can grow in it!

I should have posted this in the fall, but better late than never! The students have really enjoyed helping me with the garden. We have cleaned out the old raised beds, had a few taste tests and prepared everything for the new greenhouse!

We have made close to $500 so far with our student business, which we are using to restock our coffee cart. The students are learning how to count and handle money and inventory.

Our coffee cart is going great! My students with disabilities love taking orders and helping to fill them and deliver coffee. It has helped them get to know all the faculty and staff and socialize more within the school. Coffee Fridays were so popular, we are now also serving coffee on Tuesdays.

My students have really taken on this project and have been excited about teaching younger students. They are answering questions from their younger “students” with confidence, and checking on them from time to time to make sure they are successful in using them.
