Central Elementary’s CmPS project PLUGGED-IN has worked here at home and globally to install solar panels in the Mt. Zion Orphanage in Kenya, Africa. On 4-10-17, the team was able to watch live via Skype as lights were turned on for the first time in this orphanage. These are the only lights in the entire village. Through many fundraising efforts and multiple learning opportunities, Team PLUGGED-IN learned what it takes to solve problems whether they are at home or on the other side of the globe. Today, 53 children are able to read books we sent at night using the solar energy for lights to see! As the project continues, we hope that one day soon there will be a computer inside that home that will enable these kids to get PLUGGED-IN to the internet where they can learn other life sustaining techniques.
