However, when I came back to school the students talked to me about it and said they could play with the VR and learn about Virtual Reality. One student said she was able to ride a roller coaster. This is important because she has never ridden a roller coaster before and said because of VR and the advancement of technology she got to experience that and see how that would be in real life. We discussed the opportunities people can have due to the advancement of technology and how technology will only increase and get more advanced. We talked about jobs that people can do in technology, coding, and computer programming.

February's transition was a drone and plane flight simulator. The students enjoyed this workshop a lot. The students had fun learning how to work the controller and were challenging themselves with landing the plane without wrecking it. One student asked if Dr. Kayatin would bring it back and then asked about the college requirements to be a pilot. While the students were enjoying the simulator. Jessica, the state education officer from Carl D Perkins, was there to talk with students and answer questions about the center. One student is very interested in Carl D Perkins and completing the nursing program there. The students also were able to do a job simulation game on the Oculus- VR headset. Jessica was provided a hot list of interested students and gave them and us flyers that talked about all the benefits the center offered. Overall, it was a very successful workshop, and the students that participated enjoyed it. The job simulator was a big hit, and the students said it was very life-like.

The students at Breathitt High School have participated in several transition activities this Fall thanks to Dr. Will Kayatin. Our students had the opportunity to attend the conference at Big Sandy Community Technical College. The students were able to attend various sessions which provided them with important information that made them aware that they have many post-secondary options available to them as well as provided them information on becoming better advocates for themselves. The students enjoyed the conference and indicated that they would like to go again.

In November, Dr. Will Kayatin arranged for Chad Perry to do a drone presentation for our students. The students enjoyed the demonstration. There favorite part was being able to fly the drone by themselves. At this time Dr. Kayatin also introduce me to the new contact person for the Carl D. Perkins Center. We are planning on having her to come as a guest speaker for our students and arranging for our students to tour the facility.

In December, we had Chad Perry as a guest speaker. The students enjoyed having him. He is known to them as the drone man, so they were interested in what he had to say.

Our students enjoy participating in the transition activities and look forward to each visit from Dr. Kayatin. As a teacher, I am thankful for all of the transition opportunities that our students have been able to experience because of Dr. Kayatin's interest in them and KVEC. Our hope it that participating in these activities will enable our students to become better students and more prepared for the future.

The students at Breathitt County High School were able to experience a variety of transitional experiences during the Fall 2022 semester. These transitional opportunities were offered by KVEC staff and were very beneficial in allowing our students to experience possible future opportunities. During the Fall semester, these students were able to visit the Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg, fly drones, and participate in the Virtual Reality (VR) simulator.

The students were excited to visit the Big Sandy Community and Technical College campus. Some of these students have never toured a college campus and were able to experience what it's like to be a college student. The students attended seminars on important resources and opportunities that are offered at the college. These sessions were set up much like college classes and students were required to attend different sessions at various times listed on the schedule. This compares much to a college student attending class at a scheduled time.

The students were able to fly a very expensive drone in November. I was a little nervous due to the drone being expensive but the students did great. They really enjoyed flying the drone. We discussed how drones are used in the world today and how technology continues to change the world. We discussed how we can adapt to these changes and use it to our benefit in the future.

Dr. Will Kayatin let our student participate in a Virtual Reality simulator in December. The students really enjoyed this opportunity and we had much of the same discussion about how technology continues to advance future opportunities if we take advantage of these opportunities.

Breathitt County High School is very proud and thankful to be a part of this Transition Pilot Program. Thank you to everyone who play a part in making this happen!

In September we were able to take the students to Big Sandy Community and Technical College Prestonsburg, KY campus. Our students were very excited to tour a college campus. Our students participated in several different seminars to help prepare them for life after high school. After this trip many of our students talked about their goals after completing high school. This trip allowed them to see that they could be successful in a college environment.

The next KVEC event our students were able to attend was flying drones at our high school. Dr. Kayatin and his colleagues brought drones to our school, and allowed our students to fly them individually. This helped boost many of our students' confidence in themselves, and it peaked their interest in drone services. The students were surprised at how easy it was to fly the drone and they were proud of themselves for stepping out of their comfort zone to fly them in front of their peers.

During the drone flying simulation we meet with a representative from Carl D. Perkins Vocational training center. We were invited to bring our students down for a tour of the center. We accepted the invitation and took many of our students to the center. While we were there the students saw and learned about many of the programs that were offered by the facility. Several of our students were interested in the center after we toured the facility.

At ERHS we constantly talk with our students' about their plans after graduating high school. We talk about the importance of test scores, and maintaining their motivation to want better for themselves.

Our students here at ERHS were allowed to see and fly a drone, thanks to KVEC. Our students really enjoyed this opportunity. The students were interested in learning how they could make money flying drones and doing something fun. One parent messaged me and said her son came home from school very excited about it and told her he would love to learn how to get a drone license and told her he could use it for real estate and make his own hours and all the work he could do with it. Seeing the students so excited about something and having so much fun flying the drone, and learning how to take pictures and operate the remote was something I will never forget. A student told me he hoped that they come back so he could practice more and test out his flying skills, and he could ask more questions. The students learned that there are many different job types and training out there that don't require a college education.

After this workshop, we took the students to the Carl D Perkins center and showed them how they could get job training and take classes and get help with getting their permits and licenses while learning job skills to be able to straight out into the world and get a job and earn a paycheck. I think the workshop opened their minds to the idea of different trades and all they could do.
