AI Update September 2026

AI assistants that act for you are here. Two launched this fall: Instinct, which you text, and Muse, from Meta. They’ll book travel, fill out forms, order groceries, and even call businesses for you.

The catch is that they work as you, with your email, your name, and your card. If one gets it wrong, that’s on you. Instinct’s terms even say the deals it makes are binding on you.

For school staff, the short version is that it’s fine to try for personal stuff on your own accounts. For school work, stick with a district-approved tool, and keep student info out of Instinct and Muse completely.

Two handouts are below. One compares Instinct and Muse and shows how different roles might use them. The other is a checklist for using AI safely around student data.
