Last week we watched a video about the hollow. In the video it showed many aspects of our region and the people. The video showed several things that would be considered a stereotype for the region. There are good and bad stereotypes, which the video showed many from the family. Two good ones are about the family relations and the hard, independent nature of the family. The people may not get along all the time, but they take care of their own. The attitude they is one where the family can depend on itself; farming, foresting, working, ect. It also had some negatives as well. The idea that people can not overcome the area is very stereotypical of the region and the people, making it seem they are incapable of over coming this lifestyle. The second negative is the view that the people here are uneducated, poor, or an addict to something. It is unfair to think it would be true for most people and nearly everyone in the video had some addiction.
