Kagan and Civic Engagement

My project focuses on student engagement and performance when tasked with a test that has known questions and answers. High school students are required to take and pass a Citizenship test in order to graduate. One major issue with this test is that all questions and answers are known and are readily available online in the form of study guides and practice tests. A major problem I had this year in order to review for this exam is how to make it more engaging for my students while increasing scores. This problem presented an excellent opportunity to test the true effectiveness of KAGAN structures in the high school classroom at increasing student performance and keeping students more engaged in the amount of time in which you have them for a given day.
