I implemented ZooPhonics in the resource room with kindergarten and first grade students with disabilities. The phonics program uses animals to help children remember the shapes and sounds of the letters, in addition to body movements for each animal letter. I bought ZooPhonics with my grant. My children have been highly motivated to learn the animal letter names, sounds, and signals. For some of my students, I am able to give them a quick prompt (hand signal) when they see the letter and they are able to produce the letter sound.

I really enjoyed the sessions and I believe this year it was a bigger success than others. It just go to show you, the there is a lot of great innovation in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky.
