Although people of our region and some of the surrounding regions, we may face hard times but no matter what we have thrown at us, us as people of appalachia still some how can always fins something to be thankful for around this time of year whether it be family and friends or whatever it may be. I believe that Thanksgiving is a cultural celebration because of this trait that we carry. Christmas as well is a cultural celebration and it holds another meaning here than it does anywhere else as well as Thanksgiving. To some people in other places, and unfortunately here, Christmas is all about getting presents and things but sometimes we fail to look at what is right in front of us. I won’t go on a huge rant about Christmas because i’m sure we all know the true meaning of Christmas, but Christmas holds a special meaning around here because we would rather have the satisfaction of making sure someone has a good Christmas before we focus on our self. That alone is much more than some people can say!
