Drones- KVEC
Our students here at ERHS were allowed to see and fly a drone, thanks to KVEC. Our students really enjoyed this opportunity. The students were interested in learning how they could make money flying drones and doing something fun. One parent messaged me and said her son came home from school very excited about it and told her he would love to learn how to get a drone license and told her he could use it for real estate and make his own hours and all the work he could do with it. Seeing the students so excited about something and having so much fun flying the drone, and learning how to take pictures and operate the remote was something I will never forget. A student told me he hoped that they come back so he could practice more and test out his flying skills, and he could ask more questions. The students learned that there are many different job types and training out there that don't require a college education.
After this workshop, we took the students to the Carl D Perkins center and showed them how they could get job training and take classes and get help with getting their permits and licenses while learning job skills to be able to straight out into the world and get a job and earn a paycheck. I think the workshop opened their minds to the idea of different trades and all they could do.
