Our students enjoyed going to the Big Sandy Campus in Prestonsburg. We have been talking with our students about the workshops and have received positive feedback. We have 5 senior students currently enrolled in our vocational school for nursing. They all said they attended the "Technical Programs at Big Sandy CTC, Nursing faculty programs" session, and the information was informative and helpful. All are striving toward getting into nursing school. Our students that are in our welding, automotive, and HVAC vocational school went to the same type of session, but for electrical engineering and related technical programs at Big sandy and are talking about getting in certifications and getting their grades up and doing well on the ACT to be admitted to college so they can do the vocational program. We have overheard students sharing their career goals with their peers. Some students that weren't sure what they wanted to do when they graduated high school are now interested in college as they didn't know all the programs available to them until they attended this conference. Since the conference, we have given our students interest inventories to fill out and have sent home parent transition forms, so we have that data to use for future sessions!
