Carpentry and Electricity programs wrap up 2021 Tiny House. Article by Kelly Clibern and Gene Booth, Instructors.

This Year’s Tiny House is a build that spans over two years in development. It has had more student involvement than any other that we have built before due to the timing of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Suddenly in Mid-march of 2020 students were disappointed to put their plans on hold while others were shocked as they would be finishing the year online, then to graduate and never get a chance to see their work completed. Nevertheless and thankfully, as the pandemic gradually started to go away and mandates were lifted, more and more work resumed and the Tiny House is officially finished with the departure of our 2021 graduating class.

Several things make our tiny houses much sought after and usually end in a bidding war. One of the biggest reasons is experience. Our Instructors at the Breathitt County ATC are always carefully watching as students construct plans into someone’s very own home. Under the watchful eyes of Carpentry Instructor Gene Booth and Electrical Instructor Kelly Clibern. Both teachers bring a combined total of nearly 50 years of experience, so they have seen and learned a thing or two along the way. The next very important component is that our homes are customizable to your personal liking. Many homes have proprietary furniture, and that is nice and all but, it makes things hard to change or modify to your personal liking. So pick out your furniture, and stain color and make this tiny house home!

At first glance, you will notice the undeniable beauty of the locally grown Eastern White Pine D- Log siding, two G.F.C.I outlets, decorative lantern style porch light, water spigot, Heat Pump and A/C unit and last but not least beautiful copper-colored metal roof. You will also notice a pop out on the rear of the home that takes our 24 ft. tiny home to nearly 26 feet long on the bottom floor! This is a nice addition for space and a great place to put a bathroom vanity to add extra floor space to our full bathroom.
