Schools are a busy place, and sometimes it’s hard to remember what happened the day before with everything else going on. It can even be hard to follow what is going on outside your class, but Letcher Middle School aims to solve this problem with their very own newscast! They cover topics like the weather, sports, school events, and real-world events. Those involved in the Newscast love it so much that they devote their weekends to editing it. The Newscast is usually filmed on Thursdays and is out by the following Monday. What better way to start the week then to hear some local news. Not to mention they even have a whole section dedicated to corny jokes just in case you wanted an early morning laugh.

Alex and I managed to pay LMS a visit so be sure to be on the lookout for our FIRECAST highlighting this project next week. It was a great time and it’s always nice to see something like this going on it’s a great teaching tool and its something these students involved can look back on and be proud of. Not just the students on camera but also the ones behind the camera and the editor of the show. Big shoutout to Byrant Combs for letting us come by to check out this project that he and his students put together.  Now if you excuse me I need to get back to watching the newest edition of LMS News!

  1. Thanks for posting this, many students look forward to a new episode of LMS News every week,It keeps them motivated through out the day. The editing process normally takes 4 to 5 hours, and multiple revisions,Me and Mr. Combs use Hitfilm Express to edit every single bit of footage that goes out to the whole school
