First Grade students learned about biomimicry. After viewing life cycles of butterflies, frogs, and ant habitats as well as reading several books about animal characteristics, students decorated a mystery box. Students received a wooden box. Each student wrote a note to their friend and placed it in the box. Then the student decorated the box in a way to detour anyone from picking up the box to look inside. The students used the information they learned about unique animal adaptations to choose a special adaption for their box. Their ideas were wonderful!

Good way to have the students demonstrate what they have learned. I can tell they put a lot of thought into their boxes.
