My first grade students developed a deeper understanding of life science through the study of plants. They participated in a variety of activities that encouraged them to make observations and solve problems. They enjoyed planting their own vegetables and plants. They were also eager to come to class each day to observe the growth of their plants. At the conclusion of the unit the students used various materials to compose a freestanding plant.
