Dia de los Muertos is on November 2nd. There is a big celebration at the cemetary. People bring food that the departed used to like and clean the graves. It is celebrated in Latin America as well as Mexico.
Decorated skulls celebrate the life and individuality of the departed. It is a time of celebration, not sadness. Cempoaxochitl are known as the flower of the dead. It is one of the most important Mexican holidays. Special altars are built with specific items that carry meaning. Dia de los Muertos skeletons are more whimsical than scary. Dia de los Muertos es muy divertido.

I am a Spanish 1 student. I have been studying Spanish for about 11 weeks.
