While reflecting upon our school year here at Betsy Layne High School, I noticed that I have not followed up on our “Polar Express” night. It was quite a success. We had several families from the community show up for popcorn, a movie (Polar Express) and all the children were read a book of their choice. Several of the high school students volunteered to help out that night by reading to the children and serving them popcorn. When the evening ended, the children got to take home the book that was read to them and they also got to take home some of the remaining books.
That night was successful in bringing the community and the high school together for a collaboration that some children will remember forever.
