E-books, E-books, everywhere! Teachers and students at South Magoffin Elementary are very excited about the recent purchase of Capstone Interactive e-books. The Capstone program allows students to search for books by subject, genre, and reading level. Students are able to access a variety of high interest, multi-ability books at school or at home using their own devices.
The e-books are also linked to the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, which allows students to complete AR tests and work on increasing their reading level. Because of KVEC and the Appalachian Renaissance Initiative (ARI) Grant, students are now able to use Chromebooks (purchased through ARI) to read e-books, work on-line at their own pace, and get timely feedback through programs such as IXL and Education Galaxy. These programs are a vital part of daily classroom instruction and student engagement.
