KVEC 2019 Spring FIRE Summit – “A Region Rising”

- The April 2019 FIRE Summit (Forging Innovation in Rural Education) will be at the East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville on April 16th, 2019. The theme for this summit will be “A Region Rising.”
- Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative, twenty-two member school districts, leaders and learners are gearing up for a great day!
- Student Designed and Constructed Tiny Houses will be displayed on the plaza of the Expo Center.
- Seventeen “Community Challenge” projects that offer unique solutions to real-world challenges.
- Sessions will include 200+ presentations from Learning Innovation Grants, “Building It Forward” Grants, Special Education Grants, Student Senators, Community Challenge Grants, and Activating Catalytic Transformation Teams.
- Middle School and High School Entrepreneurial students will display innovative conceptual designs and student developed and run businesses on the arena floor.
- More than a half dozen student groups will perform during lunch.
- Top student pilots will demonstrate their racing expertise on the Drone course with student designed and built “unmanned aerial vehicles” (UAV).

I will be presenting at the 2019 Fire Summit about an ARI Learning Innovation Grant that KVEC has awarded to my visual arts III and IV classes, Betsy Layne High School. My students have expressed (begged)an interest in animation, to learn more about it and to do it. We plan on learning the old school and new school way and to create artwork that will be used in sanctioned art events. We are very pleased and excited with the opportunity to learn and create. Thanks and see you there.
