As part of my mini-grant I have purchased two iPads and a classroom set of BrainSpace Magazines. My librarian was able to work directly with the publisher of the magazines in Canada to purchase an entire classroom set. In the picture you can see one of the iPads I purchased loaded with the Blippar app that students will use to initiate the augmented reality of the magazine. I am working closely with one of our district’s technology integration specialists to use a mobile lab of iPads in addition to the ones that I purchased. She is scheduled to co-teach a lesson with me next week using the iPads (loaded with the Blippar app) and the BrainSpace magazines I purchased. We plan to read an informational article about a NASA astronaut from the magazine and then communicate with him. I will post photos after next week’s session to let everyone know how the app and magazine work together and what my students think of the augmented reality.
