Harlan County High School’s 2017-2018 CmPS team project was to encourage and educate the youth of Harlan County to participate in community problem solving.
As a team, we went to all of the middle school academic coaches and asked them to ask their academic team members id they would be interested. Two schools were interested: Wallins Jr. High and Harlan Middle School.
So, we held workshops for these teams and taught them how to complete each step in depth of the community problem solving process. Wallins decided to beautify around their school and Harlan Middle decided to add more activities for their break time.
Through this project, we have begun to complete our mission. We are teaching students how to compete in community problem solving. We are teaching students new skills that will aid them in life. We are teaching students how to make a difference.
