Project Summary: I will implement various sports and other physical activities that are new to students. These will be sports that students haven’t participated in or they know very little about. The goal is to allow the students an opportunity to find an activity that interests them enough to keep them physically active. By using fitness bands, they will be able to track their activity and calories so that they can see how active/inactive they are being and where they get the majority of their calories. We will use pedometers, fitness bands, an activity tracker, sports equipment, a physical education book, cards and board games, and a tablet to input their results. The school nurse will help track BMIs of each student. The FitnessGram test will be given so that the students and I can evaluate where they are in terms of their overall fitness. Students will wear the fitness bands and upload their activity daily. They will participate in sports (golf, bowling) and activities (yoga, weight training, aerobics, Zumba) that may be unfamiliar to them to help increase their interest level. My timeline will be a 6 month period from October 10, 2016 to April 10, 2017.
