El Dia de los Muertos or day of the dead is more like memorial day in America but with a little Halloween in there. The people through huge festivals in the streets and in there homes. they put out shrines for the dead. They even put food on the shrines for when the dead come back. The shrines are heavily decorated with flowers and art. The cempoaxochitl or marigold flower is designated to this holiday because of an old legend. The people have great respect for the dead they even wash and clean the graves to make them look nice for the holiday.
