Who are among the first to know what works and what doesn’t in the classroom? Who are the most invested in the outcome and the least likely to be consulted on the type of school leadership students need and want to ensure the best education possible? The answer to each of these questions is students.  And that is why we students have come up with a modest proposal: The Prichard Committee Student Voice Team is exploring legislative strategies to institutionalize the integration of student voice in the sphere of education across the commonwealth.  We urge all who agree that our schools’ greatest stakeholders should be able to contribute to the discussion about improving our schools through its governance to sign our petition.
Student Voice Matters.  Our schools teach us what we know; why not let us use what we’ve learned to make them better? Tell your story about why students should be involved in this process on social media using the hashtag #StudentVoiceMatters [/bpfb_link]

    • Thanks for sharing Jeff. Initially there was a lot of push back from educators about student voice being a component of Kentucky’s Professional Growth and Effectiveness System. Folk are now beginning to understand that when used correctly, student voice is a powerful tool and necessary source of formative feedback for increasing teacher effectiveness.
