I purchased microscopes with the money from the ARI mini-grant for my science class at Owsley County High School. My goal was to increase student engagement by using the microscopes as an inquiry tool. The lessons included how to use microscopes, investigating cases of food poisoning, collaborative with the Agriculture classes to evaluate the soil chemistry of the community garden, and examining water and soil samples for microbes. The students really enjoyed this addition to our classroom. By the end of the year they were reflecting on their own work and what they could do to improve it. A great outcome in my opinion!

Will you be doing follow up in the upcoming year? This is a very interesting project.
