My name is Ben Stephens and I am an ARI grant recipient as well. My grant proposal was for a video camera in order to make my American Sign Language class accessible online. My proposal had several stages and benefits. The first step was to use the camera in order to post assignments and lessons for our students during our nontraditional instructional days via edmodo.com. Second, I began to record tests, quizzes and lessons so that students who missed school would be able to access that information as well as take those quizzes via youtube.com and edmodo.com. My last stage is what I’m beginning now. I will be recording an entire year worth of lessons, assignments and assessments and creating a website that is accessible to my students. This will enable students who were not able to sign up for my class due to over crowding as well as those students who may be on homebound to take my course online. Eventually I want to offer this class to other school districts in our region and I will simply facilitate online. I would also like to market this class to our local universities. That is a simple overview of my proposal.
