What do you think? I would like to hear your opinion on this! 8 students published in paperback format, or 4 to 5 students published in hardbound format? What is your opinion? Read the entire post below to understand what I mean ok!
I’d like to start out this post by saying just how impressed and proud I am of the students who submitted work this last workshop. Incredible stuff!! Millard Elementary’s work was great! Betsy Layne High School, tremendous! Magoffin County’s as whole blew my mind! Everyone’s work was just so impressive. I hope you will get this motivated about the new The Art Gallery Workshop.
October 19th is the start of a new “Art Gallery Workshop”. I appreciate everyone being so patient with the binding of books from the first session, as well as waiting on the names of the students whose works will be published.
I promise that the books are going to be ready soon! We would like to invite the students whose works stand out to share their books with the visitors of the summit being held October 24th at the Pikeville Expo Center. Your teachers will be contacted and they will let you know if your work is selected. Also, the names of the students who we would like to attend the summit will be listed here on the Art Gallery Workshop Holler as well.
As for the published books! In the beginning we thought we could manage to get at least 4 to 5 student’s works published. These were going to be hardbound books. Another option was placed on the table today where we could manage to publish up to 8 student’s works if we chose to have the books produced in a ‘paperback’ format.
I like this idea personally. Paperback is different than hardbound, but there are more students who will be able to participate this way. Plus, if a student does well, then their book has the potential to be produced in a hardback format later on.

We are also building a website where the selected students from both Art Gallery Workshops will have their published books presented, and offered for purchase! Students keep 100% profit from the sales of the books! This website will be an overview of the student’s work, but students are going to be encouraged to build their own website (or have their school’s computer class help out) to showcase their work more in-depth. But! The general website will offer students the chance to sell their work online.
Book signings coming up for the selected students too! So much to talk about! I will keep everyone informed of the things to come! Very exciting stuff!

I think this is awesome! The idea of 8 paperback and 4/5 hardcover sounds okay to me! Then later, the paperback books could be published to hardcover! Great JOB!
