Week two of the school visits for the Banner Art Project is kicking off tomorrow with visits in Magoffin County and at Betsy Layne High School. I’ve enjoyed meeting with the schools and seeing a little bit about what the different counties are planning for their project. The thing I didn’t expect, but I suppose I should have, is the competitive aspect that’s been introduced into the Banner Project. That’s not a bad thing! Healthy competitive environments help to facilitate motivation, which is something I love to see during any project such as this.
While the Banner Art Project continues, so does the efforts to establish the young authors and illustrators in our region through STARS Publishing. I’ve met with two of the ten students whose works were selected for publication and they seem to be very excited about future plans through KVEC and STARS Publishing. Each student will work with the University of Pikeville Coleman School of Business (Dr. Snow) to establish a business plan for their work! Each will be working towards building their own small imprint as a published author and illustrator! Their works will be available for purchase during the April Expo Center event. Please stop by our table to see all the student’s works!
