I am from corn stalks in the field, from Nintendo and basketball.
I am from the small mountainous, rugged land that smells like Earth.
I am from the rose bush at the cemetery, the golden rods in the field.
I am from pancake art in the morning and adventure in the evenings, from Sharon and Bobby and Page’s.
I am from the laughter at the diner table and the casting of a fishing rod at the lake.
From respect all those around you and be determined to succeed in life.
I am from a free minded family where everyone was happy to belief what they wanted.
I’m from Prestonsburg, chicken and cornbread.
From the stories of my parents when they were little, the good times, and the bad times, all to prepare me to make my own story.
I am from pictures on the wall, stories in books, and memories by the fireplace.
I am from a family that value will always be cherished.37 Comments-

Well said. The poem is well thought out and engaging. The format is very close to the template Lyon gives us, so it is well crafted. Well done.
