What’s Cooking in Science?
Can the use of cooking lessons in the science classroom increase a student’s ability to apply science concepts to real world learning and improve his/her higher level thinking skills? Too often students are required to memorize or store science content in their short term memory. I would like to use more project based learning, such as cooking, to help students apply the content to an actual product or problem. This application will strengthen the student’s learning and transfer the knowledge into their long term memory. My prediction is that this dialogue and real world form of learning will be rewarding for both students and the teacher, and create students who are more improved higher level thinkers and 21st century citizens. To make my information available to anyone to follow, I will be sharing updates via Twitter and Instagram using the #cookinginscience
