We received our flexible seating options the week before Christmas break, and I began introducing each option since we came back. This week we will finish and students will have tried to spot. On Friday, I asked which seating options they have liked best/least. The results have been mixed. The rocking chairs and wobble chairs lead as the favorite. The pillows and low rise tables seemed to be the least favorite as of now.
I am personally not a fan of the wobble chairs that I purchased for the grant. Students like to spin in circles on them and the chair will slide out from under them and they fall. I have had one student hit his chin on the table doing this, cry, but not want to give up his wobble chair. I have tried placing the wobble chair inside of a crate, but the base is to wide to fit. I am afraid that this option is challenging for a 5-6 year old to use safely.
