My how time flies! We are already into the beginning of a new semester, with reflections of last semester waning. A quick update on my classroom re-design using flexible seating….

One major hurdle we came arcross with the rug I purchased was that it may possibly have induced some allergies in a student and I have currently removed it from my classroom. Hopefully, we can re-introduce it once we can be safely certain the rug is not attributing to this condition. Also, at times, the rug seemed to me a safety concern, as everyone in our classroom tripped up on it a couple of times. However, aesthetically, it was pleasing and the students thought it looked really “cool”.

The yoga ball chairs and gaming chairs have been a huge hit, however, there were some adjustments to be made. The rolling wheels had to be removed from the yoga ball chairs, but with this improvement, they have worked wonderfully as both an incentive for students and an opportunity for added movement for those students with ADHD. The gaming chairs proved to work for only the most mature students, which worked well as a behavior incentive also.

Still collecting data regarding the behaviors overall, but see a trend with incentive.
