My classroom grant was to purchase a Cricut Maker and accessories to use as a creating, motivating, and educating tool to replace the prize box as a reward in speech therapy sessions. I have received the Cricut and most materials. I am waiting to receive a few more items. The students are learning about the Cricut and planned projects at this time. I am sharing with them my love of crafting. They are excited and can’t wait to actually start making things as their reward for hard work during class. We will be replacing wasted time of them searching through a prize box, by having them to learn new vocabulary, follow directions, sequence, complete tasks, and then write and/or tell about what they created. This is a new way to reward them for their work and to put what they have learned to use so they can learn to carry over speech and language skills in real-life situations.
