Blog in Ed Week Focuses on Value of Micro-Credentials in Eastern Kentucky

Madeline Will, Education Week Teacher Assistant Editor, published a blog July 21 on how micro-credentials could possibly be a professional development solution in rural eastern Kentucky.  The article discusses how access to high-quality teacher training is not easily accessible to educators in rural areas, but micro-credentials could provide an individualized form of professional learning that allows teachers to work to prove mastery of identified competencies through examples of student work, videos, and other artifacts.

KVEC hosted a micro-credentialing convening meeting in Hazard on July 19 that was attended by interested educators, members of national organizations, and affiliates of other groups from across the United States.  Other similar meetings will be scheduled in the future.
