Sarah Gifford a 4th grader out of Robertson County excelled at the KY State Fair earlier this week to become the Champion in the Non-Smoked Country Ham Contest 9-year-old division.
Although her road to victory ended at the KY State Fair, it began in the cold winter months of January when Sarah and her fellow competitors received their ham. They then began the almost yearlong curing process that they would have to present on in front of a panel of judges. Sarah’s Ham won in the non-smoked category.
