There is a chart on page 3 that does a great job showing the differences between differentiation, individualization and our goal, personalization. One principal recently cut the chart apart and had his staff reconstruct it by putting the phrases/descriptors in the appropriate columns. He got them started by sharing this quote from the report – There is a difference between personalization, differentiation and individualization. The
first is learner-centered; the others are teacher-centered.
