This week the students are still harvesting greens for school salad despite the fact that many of the plants are bolting and reaching maturity. The students are learning about pollination and how the plants produce seed. We will harvest seed pods when they mature, allow them to dry and collect seed for next year! There are flats of lettuce to be transplanted very soon and budding peas and turnips in the raised beds already. Our most exciting project right now is the implementation of the pollinator garden. We are checking the plants that were planted in Fall and are making plans for new additions. Visions of artistic beauty are bouncing in the imaginative minds of the students and I’ll keep you posted on their progress.
