The classroom redesign has revolutionized my classroom. Students are connecting in ways that they were never able to before, both with partners and with the content in my classroom.

Students are grouped with other classmates, and they rotate their seating arrangements daily. There is a pub table with tall bench chairs, a kitchen table, end tables with short stools, and various heights of tables with beach chairs, pilates ball chairs, and assorted stools.

While my room may not look traditional, students’ focus has increased exponentially. Their on task behaviors have skyrocketed and I am seeing dramatic results in their performance. The only change that has taken place is the seating–my teaching style has not changed.

Behavior issues are almost nonexistent! While I was concerned at first that the seating would cause distractions, it has actually helped with student focus!

Everyone needs to try this! I wasn’t sure it would be for me, but I am a believer now!
