KVEC’s New Associate Director

The Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative is pleased to announce the new Associate Director here at the cooperative Mr. Johnny Belcher!

Mr. Belcher has dedicated 25 years of service to Kentucky’s public education system.  He began his career as a high school physical science teacher then later changed to math. He taught for 15 years with the Pikeville Independent School System. He later served 9 years as the District Assessment Coordinator/Instructional Supervisor of Pikeville Independent. He has been working at KVEC as the CRRSAA Director since July.

I chose my profession because of a desire to chase purpose and for me, there is no greater purpose than to serve the people of eastern Kentucky. I promise my best as we work to continue KVEC’s legacy of service and look forward to our work together.”

Raised in Pike County, Kentucky, Mr. Belcher completed his bachelor’s degree at Alice Lloyd College in Math/Physical Science Secondary Education. He received his Master’s in Secondary Counseling from Morehead State University along with a certification for Instructional Supervision a few years later. He is ABD for a Doctorate in K-12 Curriculum and Instruction. Mr. Belcher was honored with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award in recognition of his servant leadership along with being named Kentucky’s Milken Educator for 2011.

Mr. Belcher lives in Pike County, Kentucky with his wife Mary and daughter Sarah.
