We are still completely virtual and I have not been able to see my students yet to share the bridge building supplies. I have been in contact with Mr. Bell who helped with ordering all of the materials through our district. He says there are some books for me at the board once we are back up and running (those would be for the heart application).

I have been reading some feedback from the students about the interactive e-books we have been using. So far its been very positive because its not just them relying on images I show! They like the reading and assistance tools as well! 🙂 -

For Case Studies that captivate, I planned and purchased materials that would assist my students in learning material and being able to have visuals during our stint of online learning. We are using a series of NSTA Ebook Interactives to complete a unit on cellular transport. The interactive books have read alouds, learning checks, images that…[Read more]

So far, so good. After purchasing the items to complete my two grants I have seen that my new students are really drawn in by student choice in lab. I have had some difficulty getting them to “think inventively” early on, but am seeing that transition now.
We have completed the transport and efficiency part of our cell component (dialysis…[Read more]

The Biomimicry Grant that Mr. Parsons and I worked on was one of the best successes yet. We developed a lesson that involved all students in their own learning. The lesson was used to teach structure and function and how they coincide in nature. Student groups developed products from fish tank cleaners, makeup bottles, extra-protective phone…[Read more]

With the grant I received for my Anatomy class this year, my students designed, created, and marketed a prosthetic body part. They were given open range as to what they chose. It certainly allowed 21st century skills to combine with the Next Generation Science Standards. I will post pictures of their work!
