Project Title: #ienrich #getdigiwithit
Awarded: 3 mini Apple iPads, iPad charging station
Enrichment students are working within the four main subject areas to create lessons to teach to the class. Enrichment students are having a great time with the iPads. Most recently they are reading as a group Flora and Ulysses on the Ipad and presenting a book study to the class. They are also currently researching Appalachian poets and authors and will be completing research projects to present to the class. They are creating a QR code bulletin board, voki’s, and gloglsters all with the iPads that were awarded. As well they are working on their lesson plans and will be teaching their lesson, which we will video using the Ipads. They have had great success with their Spanish apps and well I have been able to provide enrichment with 4th grade level education galaxy app.
All students have access to the Ipads and use them daily. The mini iPads are used daily in small group reading instruction and as a listening center for individualized and differentiated instruction. The Ipads have also benefited my intervention students. During daily SSR (silent sustained reading) my students that struggle with independent reading get on an app called “Audible” and listen to chapter books. As well students take part in “Daily 5” activities. Daily 5 activities include listening to reading, reading to self, reading to someone, writing, and word work. The mini iPads can be used in all areas of a daily 5 classroom. The project objective was to improve overall enrichment time in a fun and innovative way. As well, to go beyond paper and pencil busy work to provide rigorous activities that provide growth for all students.
