I was able to attend the Assessment and Accountability conference in Louisville and a there were a lot of questions about growth and how it will be calculated. They said they were meeting with a group of people to discuss growth. I was wondering if there were any proposed changes to the growth aspect of accountability?

You have hit upon what seems to be the greatest concern with Opportunity and Access, which is resources and the variation between schools. The rich curriculum piece is asking for what is circled in the attached graphic at elementary and the course codes are to come from the listing.

What I have heard from the meeting is that Growth will be included still, but tweaks to how it is calculated may happen. Some question about whether growth points should be awarded if a student maintains or only if they improve. This committee will be meeting again to review possible models of change. More to come…
