Composting is a fun addition to ANY school garden. At Pikeville Elementary, we use organic food scraps from the school cafeteria. We gather leaves and grass clippings around school and even bring them from home. The students are learning about the proper ratios of carbon : nitrogen based materials to keep the compost in balance. Thanks to the Pike County Soil Conservation District for buying our composting bin!
