As a 5th grade math teacher, I wanted to incorporate technology and projects into students’ learning. Through the ARI Innovation Grant, I was able to receive 2 iPad minis and 3 microphones for use in my math classroom. My grant project involved using technology to help teach Geometry and Measurement/Data standards. Once students were taught the standards, I wanted to use technology to have students create their own “lessons” that teach the math standards to be sent to others. Having the technology made ALL of my instruction so much more engaging. Due to having a baby and being out for some of the year, I didn’t get quite as in depth with this project as I wanted, but students reacted positively to being able to use the technology to show others what they had learned.
