My first project is going to focus on creating guided reading instruction that will allow students to read books that will spark questions among students leading them to more reading through research. I hope to show an increase in student reading achievement on the MAP test. My second project will research if going outside of the basal series and using the Engage NY reading curriculum will increase student reading achievement on particular reading standards. I will use data from common assessments created by District Administrators to see if engaging students in more complex texts will increase reading achievement.
