The Biomimicry Grant that Mr. Parsons and I worked on was one of the best successes yet. We developed a lesson that involved all students in their own learning. The lesson was used to teach structure and function and how they coincide in nature. Student groups developed products from fish tank cleaners, makeup bottles, extra-protective phone cases, and even canes. The students definitely had wonderful ideas that allowed them to share their ideas for solving everyday problems that they encountered. It was also perfect for the collaborative setting Mr. Parsons and I have. We hope to use this project in all Biology classes next year and take it to a more “shark tank” style presentation.
